Dreams, Blessings and Thanksgiving

You have dreams! A dream job, a dream trip, a grand adventure. Do you remember those dreams? What were they? Who was there with you? Most importantly….are you still dreaming those dreams? Hoping, praying, believing?

I still am. Now more than ever. I’ve accomplished a lot in my almost 39 years on earth. But there is still so much more to do. To see. To experience. I still have so much more creativity in me sometimes I feel as though I might burst!

I am so blessed to be able to follow my dreams. My calling if you will. I am so thankful for the support I receive on a daily basis from friends and loved ones.

To be able to be creative on a daily basis is like oxygen to me. Remember what it is you are thankful for on this Thanksgiving.

Follow your dreams, remember them and hold them close in your heart. Without hopes and dreams we aren’t much more than skin and bones.

What I’m Working On and Free Wood Makes Me Happy!

I’m sort of in the middle of a few projects right now. I’ve been especially inspired by the gal at Beyond The Picket Fence. She makes so many great things out of pallets and random free wood scraps. (my husband is so not happy about this…)
I thought I’d share a few things with nothing in particular. Because as my 10 year old daughter tells me all the time “you don’t have to be so perfect all the time Mom!” yikes that kind of stings a little. But it’s true! So here’s me not being perfect!
 Yay! I think….????
A lovely, beautiful wood pallet that my not so happy husband brought home for me, he even brought two! Isn’t it pretty?
A hole in said pallet. Emma did not want this one as her bookshelf because of the hole. But I think it makes it even prettier!

My wonderful, awesome, new daddy, baby brother using the sawsall for me because I was afraid I’d chop off a leg! Isn’t he handsome?

Yay, one pallet bookshelf done. This is the one that didn’t make it past 1st daughters approval because “there’s a hole in it mom!”.

#1 daughter, slave labor. She’s so serious! I heart her, she’s pretty amazing…

So not perfect hands after staining, like my girlfriend said “don’t you wear gloves when you do that stuff?” Nope! I’m too impatient to bother and it looks pretty to me because I’ve been working with what the Lord gave me. I heart Him too.

And on to the greatest find ever! More free wood from the back of the new store across the street. Yes I gather up free wood from behind stores by the trash, thus the reason my husband is not so happy. I think he thinks I’m Sanford & Son. I think I think I’m Sanford & Son. Only Sanford & Daughter! LOL….I make myself laugh. Anywho I’m thinking a big toy box for daughter #2? Wonder if pallet lady at beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com has a tut for that?
Yay! Almost completed pallet bookshelves, organizer thingys. You can do so many things with these. #1 daughters ended up on her desk in her room filled to the brim with electronic things and their miscellaneous cords. I also attached clothespins to the four front posts so she can clip pics of her and her besties. Its so cute!
And in going with the scheme of not being perfect, I did not photoshop any of these pics. Double yay! Because as I said earlier I am so not patient with those sorts of things.
Have a great imperfect day!
Be Blessed!
Love, Lisa

How To Elevator Pitch – Part II

Ready for it? Think I have my Elevator Pitch completed. This came to me just as I was dozing off last night, of course, so I had my husband who was still up on his Ipad write it down for me…thanks babe!

“Hi my name is Lisa Lee. I’m a stay at home mom of 3 beautiful babies and wife to one tall roofing contractor. In order to keep from losing my sanity on a daily basis I try to incorporate creativity into my everyday life. I’m an avid DIY’er who specializes in recycling and upcycling cast off furniture pieces with a little paint and staple gun. I also love interior design  and jewelry design.  I write about all of this on my blog….lisajaynelee.blogspot.com.”
What do you think? I’m not sure I can actually “pitch” this in a elevator. Maybe out to left field? Lol…did Martha Stewart have to write an elevator pitch?…..

Curbside Find: Stainless Steel Table : Part 1

I’ve decided on a weekly post that will be appropriately named Curbside Find. Especially since I am the queen of curbside finds in my neighborhood. My husband and my children are not especially proud of this little quirk of mine. But they do know that at any given time while driving around my tires may come to a screeching halt if some treasure happens to come into view on the edge of the curb in the distance.

Last week while on a date no less with my hubs we happened to come across a silvery glow at the side of the curb along with a pile of old mattresses. Now I’m not that bad as to get some old dusty mattresses but any sort of table or chair is usually going to end up in the back of the Burb no matter how old or dusty.

Alas we came across a stainless steel commercial kitchen table that prolly long ago looked something like this….

Now it doesn’t look so pretty and shiny. But it does have some wonderful rust on the bottom shelf and I think it adds to the charm of it. Of course you may think what will I do with it? Well….I have a few ideas….

Check back tomorrow for Curbside Find Make-over Part II!

Be Blessed,

A Church Rummage Sale

Milk Paint – Miss Mustard Seed Yellow PreOrder now

Tomorrow is the biannual church rummage sale here in Yorba Linda. This is a great opportunity to find some unique pieces to upcycle and redecorate. I am definitely on the lookout for some vintage and antique furniture to paint with Miss Mustard Seed’s new paint line….I can’t wait to try it out. Especially this fabulous butter yellow color. It’s available as a preorder on this Etsy site. I have been following Miss Mustard Seed for a few years now and it’s been great to watch her grow and read her daily furniture and decor posts. She definitely is a gal who I could be great friends with. We have a lot in common…..moms, believers in Christ, furniture DIY crazy, bloggers, and the thrill of the hunt for a good yard sale.

Good luck Miss Mustard Seed! I hope your paint moves mountains in many homes!
